Sunday afternoon

In winter, Ljubljana is incredibly tranquil on Sunday afternoons. Well of course it is, it's freeeeziiiiing out there! The only reason I left my warm and cozy apartment is because of the cake! :P

I think this song is appropriate for a nice Sunday evening. ;-)

Work motivation

You know that situation when you spend 4 hours on an assignment that should take you less than an hour? Here we go - imagine that you have a deadline for a couple of assignments at work / in school. You have to do it in 3 hours. Let's say you have to write a couple of emails and a short report on something. It should take you 45 minutes to do it. But because the deadline is in 3 hours, it will actually take you three hours. First you'll write a couple of sentences of the report, then check Facebook for 15 minutes. You'll continue with 4 of 5 more sentences and then go get some coffee, which will take you about 20 minutes - because of course, you also have to check the news. Then maybe you'll have a chat with a friend and whooops - you only have half an hour to finish the assignment. You concentrate on doing it and finish even before the deadline. You could have done it in the first 45 minutes and have aaaaall the time in the world to check Facebook, drink coffee, read the news and have a chat with your friend. But it was just too tempting - after all, you did have three hours to complete it!

Sounds familiar? It does to me. That's why I have the upper motivational quote on my pinboard - so it keeps me focused on the things I have to do. I hope it'll help you to. ;-)

Rosemary

There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance; pray you, love,
remember. And there is pansies, that’s for thoughts.

Quotes pt. 1

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light. (Dumbledore)

I'm a big fan of quotes. I write them down in my Moleskine planner and then transcribe them to my Moleskine notebook at the end of the year. You know, to make a review of all the wisdom that I absorbed in the past year. :-) Quotes inspire me on a daily basis - by that I mean quotes from films, songs, or just quotes from random people that I find on the internet.

Here are some of my favourites.

My ultimate all-time favourite:
There is nothing impossible to him who will try
(Alexander the Great)

  • You can tell a lot about a person by the way he handles four things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage and tangled Christmas lights. (M. Angelou)
  • In 20 years you will be more disappointed by what you didn't do than by what you did. (Mark Twain)
  • Work expands to fill the time available for its completion. (This quote really gets me through exam period ;-)
  • A recent survey stated that the average person's greatest fear is having to give a speech in public. Somehow, this ranked even higher than death, which was third on the list. So, you're telling me that at a funeral, most people would rather be the guy in the coffin than have to stand up and give an eulogy. (Seinfeld - this quote really gets me through speeches in public :-)
  • Laugh a lot and when you get older, all your wrinkles will be in the right places. (Unknown)
  • Stay hungry, stay foolish. (S. Jobs)
  • Dorknob: Sorry, you're much too big. Simply impassible.
    Alice (in Wonderland)
    : You mean impossible?
Dorknob: No, impassible. Nothing is impossible.

       What are your favourites?

        Renovated blog, new language.

New year, new challenges, new blog! I decided to change my blog a little bit (as you can see, the blog's layout is brand new! don't ask, how many hours it took me! luckily, it's holiday; and luckily, there's Google; and luckily, I'm eager to learn new things) and since my writings are relatively short (the emphasis is on the photos), I also decided to write in English. Who knows, maybe there are some interested readers outside of our small (but beautiful ;-) country. Sooooo... crossing borders in 2012! And I'm one hundred procent sure that all of my current readers have a wide knowledge of the English language so they won't have a problem with reading my posts. A ne da imam prav?! :-)

Anyway, I also made some content changes  - from now on, you can expect my posts separated in eight different categories:
        • Around the globe - travel and roadtrip posts.
        • Crafts and co. - ideas and inspiration for crafts / design / etc.
        • Cuisine - recipes, reports from restaurants, delicious food in general ;-)
        • Events and places - well the name says it all, doesn't it? :-P
        • Inspiration - photos that inspire me; moments, that inspired me.
        • Postcards from... - i already has this category - polaroids from interesting places.
        • Wandering - photos from some inspirational walks / trips.
        • Misc - weeeell... everything else!
The new slideshow on the top of the main page shows random posts. The newest entries (well, all entries) are chronologically arranged just below the slideshow. To see the whole entry, just click on the title or on the photo.

Enough about me and my blog, what are you planning to do in the coming year? Any new year's resolutions to fulfill?

P.S.: Don't forget to follow my blog by liking it on Facebook (see the box on the right) or clicking "follow" on the bottom of the sidebar (on the right!). :-)
P.S. #2: I had to delete the previous blog (there were some complications with renovation) so all my followers got deleted too, I'm sorry!
        P.S. #3: HAPPY 2012!
